Dr Brull qualified at the Royal Free Hospital Medical School in 1992. He has worked in several London teaching hospitals (Guys Hospital, The Royal Free and University College London Hospitals) and was appointed Consultant Cardiologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer to The Whittington Hospital and The Heart Hospital, University College Hospitals in October 2003. Dr Brull became Cardiology Clinical Lead at The Whittington in 2011. From April 2015 The Heart Hospital merged with St Bartholomew’s Hospital forming The Barts Heart Centre.

Clinical Practice

Whilst running a busy NHS practice, Dr Brull routinely sees patients with a wide range of common cardiac problems including: angina (chest pain), hypertension (high blood pressure), heart failure, referrals for investigation of palpitations and collapse, cardiovascular risk assessment, perioperative cardiac assessment and treatment of elevated cholesterol levels.

Specialist Interest

Dr Brull’s main interest and specialist training is in percutaneous coronary intervention, PCI  (formerly called angioplasty and stenting). This procedure is designed to alleviate angina (chest pain caused by poor blood flow to the heart), whereby a small balloon and expandable stent (“scaffolding”) is inserted across one or more tight blockages in the coronary arteries to restore blood flow.

Following his appointment in 2003 Dr Brull played an integral part in setting up the Heart Attack Primary PCI Service based at Heart Hospital UCLH. This now provides immediate access and round the clock treatment for heart attack patients throughout North and Central London.  In  April 2015 The Heart Hospital services moved to St Bartholomew’s Hospital forming The Bart’s Heart Centre, Europe’s’ largest Cardiothoracic centre.

In addition to his work in the field of coronary artery disease, Dr Brull has runs a specialist perioperative risk assessment clinic for patients prior to elective general and bariatric surgery, working with a multi-disciplinary team in order to reduce perioperative risk.
